Four corrections officers with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office have been fired for violating the department’s use of force policy, according to reports.
Deputies Michael McSheffrey Jr., Brandon Ross Gallien, and Adrian Theriot were fired April 23 and Scarla Celestine was fired Monday, Captain Kid Judice said in a news release.
According to The Advocate, Judice said he could not release internal reports or the former deputies personnel records because of an ongoing external investigation.
We’ve learned that one of the officers fired, Adrian Theriot, is Major Art LeBreton’s son-in-law.
Major LeBetron is one of the highest ranking officials in the Sheriff’s office.
According to The Advocate, Trooper 1st Class Stephen Hammons on Wednesday confirmed State Police investigators were looking into an incident involving the deputies and one inmate.
Hammons said Sheriff Mike Neustrom last week requested State Police help.
