Detectives are investigating the Saturday death of an 11-month-old child that has been ruled a homicide.
An autopsy conducted Monday showed the infant died from blunt-force head trauma, Baton Rouge Police Lt. Don Kelly said.
Aaliyah Heard, 196 Apartment Court Drive, was unresponsive and rushed to Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Mid City at 1:15 p.m. Friday before she was transferred later to the hospital’s Bluebonnet Boulevard campus. The child died there at 11 a.m. Saturday, Kelly said.
Family members were initially interviewed by detectives and investigators from the state Department of Children and Family Services, Kelly said.
The investigation is continuing and criminal charges are anticipated, he said.
