A Lake Charles man is facing a charge of soliciting for prostitutes stemming from a police investigation at a Bossier City hotel, according to KSLA-TV in Shreveport.
Bossier authorities arrested six people, including 51-year-old John P. Stephenson Jr., of Lake Charles, on May 16.
Stephenson is a constable in Ward 4 in Cameron Parish.
KSLA-TV reports that according to Bossier authorities, the operation was conducted with the assistance of the Shreveport Police Department and involved officers working undercover posing as prostitutes and as persons soliciting prostitution.
According to KPLC TV in Lake Charles, Stephenson told them, the arrest and subsequent charge are a “big mishap.”
Stephenson said he was in an elevator talking with a woman before walking into a setup, according to KPLC.
KPLC says, Stephenson said he is working to rectify the issue.
