Truman murder suspect jailed sporting an NBA store tag
A Lafayette man was arrested late Saturday morning in connection with the killing of a teenager Friday on Hilda Street in the Truman area, according to reports.
Investigators arrested Marquis Simmons, 20, of Lafayette charging him with second-degree murder.
Simmons is accused of shooting and killing an unidentified 17-year-old male in the 400 block of Hilda Street on Friday evening, according to police.
Witnesses said the unidentified victim was standing in the yard around 5:30 p.m. when the suspect approached him and shot one time.
The suspect fled the scene, and the victim was transported to a local hospital where he later died, reports said.
Simmons was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center and is beind held on a $250,000 bond.
The investigation is ongoing.
