SWAT team surrounds Lafayette home

The Lafayette Police’s SWAT team surrounded a home on Louisiana Avenue, near Center Street earlier today.

A family member called police stating there was domestic problem at a home and people were inside the house. The family member also indicated the 19-year-old unidentified teen communicated a threat towards them.

Officers responded and said there was no answer at the home.

People in the area say they saw a heavily armed SWAT team surrounding the home for a few hours prior to the teen coming out.

The teen was transported to a local medical facility for further evaluation.

Initial eyewitnesses tell us they saw upwards of 30 cop cars in the area including Lafayette City Police and Louisiana State Police units.
