Louisiana priest beaten with crowbar during robbery
Investigators with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office said a Metairie priest was attacked in an attempted armed robbery Sunday night according to WDSU.
According to authorities, two men, one armed with a crowbar and the other with a pistol, approached the priest at St. Clement of Rome Church about 11 p.m. and demanded money from the safe.
The priest was unable to open the safe, investigators said, and was then beaten by the robber armed with the crowbar. The would-be robbers fled after the incident.
The priest suffered minor injuries in the attack.
Authorities described the robber with the crowbar as standing 6 feet tall, weighing about 250 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt,with a bandanna over his face. The robber armed with the gun was described as standing about 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing about 170 pound. He was also last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, with a bandanna over his face.
