Lafayette teen dead after Truman area shooting
According to a press release from the Lafayette Police Department, on March 15, 2013, at approximately 5:30 pm, Lafayette Police were dispatched to the 400 block of Hilda Street regarding a shooting. The victim, a male under the age of 17, was standing in a yard when the suspect approached him. According to witnesses, the victim attempted to flee the scene on foot when the suspect shot the victim one time. The suspect fled the scene following the shooting and the victim was transported to a local hospital where he later died. Detectives are currently interviewing witnesses and developing leads in an attempt to identify the suspect. The motive behind the shooting remains unknown. The investigation remains ongoing.
This is the second murder in the Truam area this year.
Earlier this year, police arrested twenty-one-year old Jacob Ardoin aka ‘Slim Thug 337” of Carencro in connection with a shooting of 22 year old Jordan Melancon of Lafayette near the Martin Luther King celebration.

Lafayette police are investigating a shooting in the 400 block of Hilda Street.
Police say a male was shot once and that the suspect fled the area.
The victim is now in critical condition at a local hospital.
