Lafayette man booked on attempted murder charges
According Lafayette arrest records Scottie L. Louvierre was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on March 8th, 2013 and charged with one count of First Degree murder and one count of resisting an officer. We have since learned, Mr. Louvierre was charged with attempted First Degree murder of a Lafayette City Police officer and not First Degree murder as previously reported.
According to reports, two plainclothes Lafayette Police officers were leaving Cracker Barrel Convenience Store located at 410 University Ave across from University of Louisiana at Lafayette when Louvierre pulled up and started yelling profaniites at the officers.
It’s unclear why Mr. Louvierre would roll up to a convenience store cursing people out, much less two plainclothes police officers.
According to conflicting reports:
- “At some point, the suspect accelerated his vehicle towards the officer. The officer moved out of the path of the suspect’s vehicle but was stuck on the leg,” according to The Advertiser.
- “The officers tried to leave, that’s when they say Louvierre drove towards the officer, striking him on the leg and hip,” according to KLFY.
Louvierre fled the scene after allegedly injuring the cop. A law enforcement source tells us, he was arrested a short time later at his home where a pack of Lafayette Police officers do what they do best.
Louvierre was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center where he is being held in solitary confinement.
