Busted In Acadiana

According to KLFY. Lynne Durel, the wife of Lafayette City Parish President Joey Durel was seriously injured in a 4 vehicle head-on crash Friday morning near the intersection of Ambassador and Englewood. Mrs. Durel received several injures but is in stable condition.

Two other additional victims were also hospitalized with serious injuries. KATC has identifed once as wife of former DOTD secretary Kam Movassaghi, Mazie Movassaghi. 

Police say the accident occurred when one vehicle crossed the centerline, hitting another vehicle head-on. Two other vehicles also crashed as a result, bringing the total number of vehicles involved to four, according to KATC.

The crasj happened at Englewood and Ambassador Caffery, and all lanes of traffic were shut down for a short time this morning as a result.

Police say the victims are all suffering from moderate to minor injuries.

It is unclear if drugs or alcohol were a contributing factor in the crash.

No citations have been issued; the crash is still under investigation.

Joey Durel has since issued a statement saying: “My wife and her dear friend are doing very well following surgery. We thank our community for the prayers and support we have received. We are also thankful that they are expected to fully recover and pray for the same result for all involved.”
