Chief Decou reports that today the Broussard Police Department was conducting an investigation regarding a residential burglary that occurred a week ago at 109 Padre Drive and while speaking with the victims at the residence detectives discovered 101 grams of hydroponic (High Grade) marijuana with a street value of $9,000.00, a high powered assault rifle (AR15) fully loaded, a Sig Sauer .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun fully loaded and drug paraphernalia.
The two residents, identified as Mr. Richard Westley (w/m 26 YOA) of California and Daniel Bebernes (w/m 27 YOA) also of California were taken into custody without incident. They are residing here for work as off shore divers. All illegal narcotics and firearms were taken into evidence. Both suspects were transported to LPCC and Richard Westley was booked on Possession with intent to Distribute Marijuana, Possession of a Firearm in the Presence of Narcotics, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Daniel Bebernes was booked on Simple Possession of Marijuana, Possession of a Firearm in the Presence of Narcotics, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
