Two thugs accused of launching a ‘Molotov cocktail’ at a home
Jennings authorities are investigating a case involving a Molotov cocktail allegedly being thrown into a home on Monday night according to KPLC TV.
Arrested were Kristopher Watkins, 18, and Leslie I. Barker, 17. Both face charges of aggravated arson, conspiracy to commit simple arson and manufacturing of a delayed action incendiary device.
Semmes said a joint investigation by Jennings Police, city fire personnel and the Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office led to Watkins as a person of interest in the case. Barker was charged after further investigation, Semmes said.
Semmes said authorities received a call around 8:15 p.m. Monday in reference to what appeared to be a Molotov cocktail thrown at a home on Roberta Avenue. Two people were inside the home but were unharmed, Semmes said.
Semmes said bricks had previously been thrown through a window at the same house on two separate occasions. He said there could be more charges against the two men stemming from the previous brick incidents.
Semmes also said that authorities are looking into threatening text messages sent from a device police believe is linked to one of the suspects.
Watkins is also allegedly involved in a separate vandalism case in Lafayette involving a family member of a person who was in the Jennings residence.
Semmes told KPLC that University of Louisiana at Lafayette Campus Police are the lead investigators on that case.
