Two St. Martinville residents die in crash
A single-vehicle crash Saturday night on La. 347 near Delcambre Road killed two St. Martinville residents, one of whom was wearing a seat belt, a State Police spokesman said.
At about 10:22 p.m., Danny Boudreaux, 45, was traveling south on La. 347 in his 1997 Chevrolet Corvette when he ran off the road to the left in an area of the road with a slight left curve, said Trooper 1st Class Stephen Hammons of Troop I in a news release. The car went through a ditch, overturned several times and struck a tree, Hammons said.
Boudreaux was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the car, but his passenger, Tammy Boudreaux, 44, was wearing a seat belt, Hammons said.
The St. Martin Parish Coroner pronounced both dead at the scene, Hammons said.
Troopers are unsure if impairment played a role in the accident and submitted a toxicology sample to the Crime Lab for analysis, Hammons said.
