Scott police release 2012 crime statistics

Chief Chad Leger says, Scott Police saw an increase in dispatched calls last year of 2% over the previous year.

The police department responded to 15,254 calls in 2012. Of these dispatched calls, there was an increase of 28% in the 326 adult arrests and a 15% of the 98 juvenile arrests from the year past.

The police department increased traffic enforcement and still had an 11% increase in crashes with 523 crashes for the year. Of these crashes, 116 were rear-end crashes, mostly from drivers being inattentive or distracted from mobile devices.

Police reports an increase in domestic violence and thefts, while drug arrests were down by 75 percent.
