Busted In Acadiana

Beware of those white vans? I think!

A few weeks back we received numerous reports of a white van lurking around Lafayette neighborhoods packed down with over aggressive sales people.

Yesterday evening, the Morgan City Police Department received a complaint of a suspicious vehicle riding around on Mayon St. and the driver attempted to coerce a young male juvenile into the vehicle. The juvenile was walking on Mayon St. when a white van, unknown make or model, stopped to talk with him. Witnesses advised that the driver offered him a ride. A passerby in the area, who knew the juvenile, then stopped to see why the van was stopped and the driver talking to the juvenile. It was determined that the driver had offered the juvenile a ride. There was no physical contact made between the driver or the juvenile, only verbal conversation. The van was described as a white cargo/panel van. It had no side windows. No license plate information was available. The driver was described as a heavy set white male with long brown/blonde hair and a light goatee.

This is the only incident reported. Anyone who might have been in the area and may have witnessed the van leaving from the area is asked to contact the MCPD Detective Division at 985-380-4605.
