Seth FontenotA bond hearing will be held at noon today for 18-year-old Seth Fontenot which could result in his release from the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.

Fontenot’s Attorney Thomas Guilbeau of Lafayette, said he will ask for a $100,000 bond for one count of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted first-degree murder combined according to reports.

Fifteenth Judicial District Court Judge Kristian Earles  is scheduled to proceed over the hearing.

It is unclear if the state is opposing bond or if they itend to request any special provisions for Fontenot to be released.

Last week, Fontenot was indicted by a Lafayette Parish Grand Jury on one count of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted first-degree murder.

Assistant District Attorney Mark Garber decided the state would not seek the death penalty in Fontenot’s case.

The harshest penalty Fontenot could face if convicted is life in prison.
