Who Got Busted?

Seth FontenotAccording to the police account of the incident, officers were dispatched at about 2:15 a.m. this morning to Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center and told about the three 15-year-old teens who had been shot.

Intially, police said the three boys, all 15, were riding in a pickup truck about 1:45 a.m. in the 100 block of Green Meadow Road in the Bellevue Plantation Subdivision – (earlier identified as Canberra Neighborhood) in Lafayette when investigators say Seth Fontenot fired three shots into the truck.

Prior to the shooting, the three teens had been watching a movie at a nearby friend’s home. The teens decided it would be safer to drive home, rather than walk so they borrowed a truck according to independent sources.

Investigators are now saying , Fontenot encountered the victims outside of his residence when the shooting occurred.

The driver of the pickup sped away and took the passengers to Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center, Mouton said.

Source who wish not to be identified tell us, the driver of the pickup contacted a family member shortly after being shot in the foot who advised him to drive straight to the hospital.

It’s unclear if any of the teens or the alleged suspect made any attempts to contact emergency personel after the incident or whether neighbors heard or reported gun fire.

The teen who died was one of the passengers, according to a law enforcement source. That teen was identified earlier this afternoon as 15-year-old Austin Rivault of Lafayette by KATC. We’ve learned that Rivault lived 4-5 homes away from where the shooting incident occurred.

Both the driver and the other passenger are listed in stable condition at this hour.

Lafayette police have charged and booked 18-year-old Seth Fontenot into Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on one count of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted first-degree murder.

According to Fontenot’s Facebook page, he was a recent graduated of Acadiana High School and was attenting University Of Louisiana at Lafayette Studying Account. Fontenot list his employer as one of our favorite restaurants, Another Broken Egg.

A Facebook page was made early today in memory of Austin Rivault.
