A woman has been charged in a May incident where authorities say she stood on top of a maintenance building at Jordan Valley Ice Park, completely naked.
For the second time.
Samantha J. Edwards, 26, was charged in August in Greene County Circuit Court with second-degree sexual misconduct and second-degree property damage, which are misdemeanor charges.
According to a probable cause statement from the Springfield-Greene County Park Rangers, just after 7 p.m. on May 27, two people reported seeing a naked woman in the area. When an officer responded, he said he saw the woman as well.
Surveillance footage shows the woman exposing her genitals to several people, throwing her bra on a walking trail and leaning over the balcony of the building over the course of 30 minutes, the statement says.
“Defendant was likely high on bath salts at the time and also ripped the covers off of two electrical boxes and removed two fire extinguishers from the building,” a bond recommendation document filed by the Greene County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office says.
The bond recommendation document says that she was seen by two people biking through the park and two ice park employees. It also notes that law enforcement has responded before to Edwards being naked in the park.
Edwards, who as of Wednesday was in custody at the Greene County Jail, is also facing a felony charge of fraudulent use of a credit or debit device.
A bond of $1,500 was recommended for the sexual misconduct and property damage charges if Edwards fails to appear in court. But she was taken into custody in lieu of a $2,500 bond in the fraud case.
A preliminary hearing on the fraud charge is set for September 13. An arraignment for the other two charges was held Aug. 22, where Edwards pleaded not guilty.
