Busted In Acadiana

Lafayette, LA – On January 21, 2013, at approximately 7:15 pm, Lafayette Police were in the area of the 400 block of Hilda Street when a disturbance occurred. There was a large crowd of people in the roadway when officers heard a gunshot. Officers found the 20 year old male victim collapsed on the ground from a gunshot wound in front of a residence. The victim was transported to an area hospital and later pronounced dead. One individual trying to run from the scene was detained and is being questioned by police.

Detectives continue to interview witnesses about the shooting and are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.

This marks the second murder of the year in Lafayette. Last week 24-year-old Adam Batiste was accused of beating his 18-year-old girlfriend Gabrielle Spencer to death.
