Thugs accused of robbing volunteers of cash box at school fundraiser
On Jan. 15, at approximately 1:35 p.m., Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to LaGrange High School regarding a robbery.
Upon arrival, deputies were advised while school staff members were selling plate lunches at the concession area to raise funds for the baseball team, a student ran up and grabbed the cash box, containing an undisclosed amount of cash, and fled on foot.
After a week-long investigation, detectives arrested Darterious Bartie, 17, of Lake Charles, and two 16-year-old juveniles, all students of the school, in connection with the robbery.
Bartie was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and the two juveniles were booked into the Juvenile Detention Center. All are charged with robbery.
