Thug stabs a deaf dude repeatedly after he mistkook sign language as a gang symbol
Robert Jarell Neal, a 22-year-old Burlington man was jailed Wednesday after he allegedy stabbed a deaf man nearly to death after mistaking the victim’s sign language as ‘gang symbols.”
According to the Burlington Police Department, the victim, 45-year-old Terrance Daniels, was walking down the street Wednesday afternoon while talking to him in sign language.
Neal allegedly thought the man was flashing a gang symbol and stabbed him multiple times with a kitchen knife.
Investigators say a neighbor called police after Neal returned to the scene a short time later and threatened to harm her 12-year-old daughter.
The victim was taken to two hospitals in the Piedmont area and is now listed to be in serious but stable condition. Neal was located in Elon and was apprehended without incident.
Neal was booked into the Alamance County Jail and charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflict serious injury and felony assault on a handicapped person. He is currently being held in lieu of a $500,000 bond.
