St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Detectives Investigate Amelia Shooting

On January 1, 2013 at 12:01 am the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a complaint of a shooting at 111 Westside Park Lane in Amelia, LA. Upon arrival deputies located a Hispanic male victim lying on the ground with two gunshot wounds to the upper torso. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he remains in critical condition. Detectives investigating the shooting received information that an older model, red pick up truck occupied by three black males drove to Westside Park Lane. One of the males exited the pick up truck with a gun. The victim then confronted the man and was shot. Detectives are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the gunman. Again the crime occurred just before midnight on New Year’s Eve in Amelia.
