Opelousas man accused of breaking into church multiple times
After a string of burglaries that began on Oct 30, 2012 through Jan 11, 2013, an Opelousas man was arrested.
Christopher Batiste, 34, of Opelousas has been charged with five counts of simple burglary after allegedly breaking into Bellevue Street Baptist Church in Opelousas on numerous occasions.
Police executed a search warrant on Batiste’s home where they were able to recover many of the items stolen during the burglary including televisions, computers and dvd players.
Police have confirmed that Batiste was not a member of the church and apparently had no intentions of joining.
