Who Got Busted?

Deaundre M. WilliamsA Baton Rouge man wanted in the Thursday morning shootings of a 15-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man surrendered to authorities Friday, a police spokesman said.

Deaundre M. Williams, 20, 6545 Nottingham St., is to be booked on charges of first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder and illegal use of a weapon, said Cpl. L’Jean McKneely Jr., a police spokesman.

The 15-year-old was shot in the head and pronounced brain dead Thursday, McKneely said. He said doctors planned to conduct another series of tests on the boy later Friday.

McKneely has said police could issue the murder warrant even though the boy had not died.

The 19-year-old was shot in the back and is expected to recover, McKneely has said.

Police have not released the identities of the victims.

The shootings occurred just before 2 a.m. near a house in the 1800 block of 71st Street, McKneely said.

The three apparently were arguing over an incident that occurred about two weeks ago, he said.

Anyone with information about the shootings is asked to contact the Violent Crimes Unit at  (225) 389-4869 or Crime Stoppers at  (225) 344-7867.
