Who Got Busted?

baby-mob-shotThe NOPD last week arrested a 32-year-old woman accused of teaching her 8-year-old son how to break into a house on the West Bank, according to an arrest warrant issued by the New Orleans Police Department. Tajhma Deary was booked into the Orleans Parish jail on Jan. 9 on charges of attempted simple burglary, criminal damage to property and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

According to the warrant, Deary and her son were caught on surveillance video trying to break in to a house in the 3900 block of Inwood Avenue on Nov. 16 about 11:20 a.m.  The victim told police he recognized Deary because she had dated his son, though the couple had broken up in March 2012.

The video shows the “minor place his right arm inside the mail slot to make several attempts at unlocking the locks on the door while the female (Deary) stands nearby offering assistance to the minor,” the warrant says.

After failing to open the front door, Deary allegedly hopped a 6-foot-tall wrought iron fence to gain access to the side of the house, where she removed a screen from a window. She tried to lift the window, but failed because it was locked, the warrant says.

Deary then dismantled one of the victim’s video surveillance cameras off the exterior of the house, the warrant says. The pair then ran away.
