Who Got Busted?

AddisThe suspect in an armed robbery and hostage situation in West Baton Rouge Monday night was shot and killed by Addis Police.

Authorities say just after 6 p.m. Monday, a male suspect robbed Noah’s Pharmacy in Brusly, LA. Deputies say the suspect then grabbed a female customer in the store and used her as a hostage to leave Noah’s Pharmacy.

Police say when the suspect came out of the pharmacy through the back door, he was holding the hostage at gunpoint. The officers took cover and that is when he got into the police cruiser with the hostage.

The Addis Police officers began pursuing the suspect and hostage. The chase ended with a crash on LA-1 at the Intracoastal Bridge. The police cruiser rear-ended another vehicle and the police cruiser flipped.

Police were approaching the flipped police cruiser, police say the suspect began counting down and saying he was going to shoot the hostage and himself, who were both still in the vehicle. This is when the suspect was shot by police. Police say three shots were fired.

The crash shut down LA-1 at the Intracoastal Bridge in both directions for about three hours.

At last check, the hostage was ok and being treated for her injuries.

Police are now searching for a woman who they believe was supposed to be the suspect’s getaway driver.

A deputy spotted the woman behind the pharmacy and asked her for her identification. Police say she acted like she was looking through the dumpster. The suspect came out of the back door of the pharmacy to get inside the car and went back in to get the hostage.

When the suspect left in the police cruiser with the hostage, the alleged getaway driver left the scene. The woman is described as a black female with medium to light skin. She is in her mid 40’s with shoulder length hair. She was last seen driving a dark colored, two door sports car with a Louisiana temporary tag in the rear window of the driver’s side.

If you have any information on the suspected getaway driver, you are urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 344-STOP.
