Johnnie TheallTask Force agents with the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested a Kaplan man after receiving information that crystal methamphetamine was being manufactured at his Vermilion Parish residence.

Johnnie Theall, Jr., 39, was arrested for manufacturing a clandestine lab in the 17000 Block of Dalton Rd. Agents called this a “Shake and Bake” meth lab.

“This is a crude and volatile form of cooking crystal meth, which is becoming more and more popular due to suspects not using chemicals that licenses are usually needed to obtain. Instead suspects use other items such as alkaline batteries, Sudafed, Red Devil Lye or Drano and various other items to cook the substance.”

Theall’s bond was set at $50,000. Agents expect more arrests in this case.

Sheriff Mike Couvillon encourages all citizens with information regarding illegal drug activities to contact the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office or the Vermilion Parish Municipal Narcotics Task Force at  337-740-4501 or email the task force attaskforce@vpso.net.
