28-year-old Larry Haynes was taken into custody at 5 a.m. Wednesday, according to NOPD. Police said he was found at his girlfriend’s house in Kentwood.
Police say Haynes shot and killed 26-year-old Tiara Reynolds while her kids watched in the driveway of a home in the 2800-block of South Roman Street.
Haynes is charged with first-degree murder and three counts of attempted first-degree murder. He had previously been arrested on several wide-ranging charges.
Members of NOPD’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad (VOWS) assisted in the capture.
“I also want to commend members of the VOWS unit and the U.S. Marshals for their swift action in locating and taking this violent suspect into custody,” said NOPD Superintendent Ronal Serpas. “His crime was heinous. Looking at his lengthy record, it’s obvious that our officers have arrested this man time and time again — including an illegal firearm charge. He had no business walking the streets last month, and should have never have had the opportunity to kill this mother in front of her children.”
NOPD said a Crimestoppers tip led to the arrest.
