Louisiana boy, 8, may have shot himself in the head
The Jackson Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating the shooting death of a child initially reported as a suicide.
According to Sheriff Andy Brown, deputies were called to a residence in Quitman in reference to a shooting.
When deputies arrived, Brown said, they found an 8-year-old child had been shot in the head.
“At this time, the investigation is ongoing,” Brown said. He said investigators were working to determine if the shooting was a suicide.
“We’re treating this as a suspicious incident,” Brown said.
He said the child’s body was sent to Little Rock for an autopsy.
