Drunk driving suspect jailed in connection with toddler’s death

Yesterday, 23-year-old Jamuse Broussard turned himself into authorities at the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center in connection with a crash that left a 2-year-old dead.
Broussard was charged earlier this month with, OWI, driving under a suspended license, failure to yield while turning left and two counts of vehicular negligent injury in connection with a crash at the inntersection of Van Buren Drive and Moss Street on January 17t, 2013.
He was released a short time later on a $750 bond for the above mentioned charges.
The following day, 2-year-old Kylan Jackson of Opelousas died at a Baton Rogue hospital who was a passenger in a vehicle, driven by a 33-year-old Lafayette man, who did survive the crash.
Yesterday Broussard was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center and charged with vehicular homicide.
He was released a short time later on a $50,000 bond.
This case remains under investigation.
