Desperado’s alcohol permit suspended indefinitely after federal raid
The state alcohol permit for Desperado’s, the Carencro strip club raided in December, was indefinitely suspended today until a federal charge against the owner is resolved, according to reports.
Troy Hebert, the commissioner of the Louisiana Office of Alcohol and Tobacco told The Advertiser, “In light of the federal grand jury handing down an indictment on the owners, I have extended the suspension indefinitely until the issue is resolved in the courts.”
Back on December 5th, federal, state and local agencies raided Desperado’s and the owner James “Jim” Panos home.
Several employees of the booby bar were arrested. One patron. a UL Professor was found in the VIP room and arrested on prostition charges.
According to The Advertiser, a federal grand jury indicted Panos on Dec. 19 on one count of conspiracy to maintain drug-involved premises.
The paper also says, federal authorities are seeking the forfeiture of the building and land on which the club is located.
