Busted In Acadiana

According to reports by The Ind, Barna Haynes, was scheduled to plead guilty in the ongoing federal bribery investigation into the District Attorney office’s handling of OWIs earlier this week. For unknown reasons, it didn’t happen according to the paper. Haynes is Harson’s former long time office administrator and the wife of Lafayette City Prosecutor Gary Haynes.

Back in October when targets letters were going out offering suspects plea deals in return for a guilty plea and their coperation, Gary Haynes told us via email, “I know of no one who received such a letter.” Including your wife butterball? Come on dawg!

The paper is also reporting that Assistant District Attorney Greg Williams’ and his secretary Denease Curry are also targets of the bribery investigation and were expected to take pleas as well.

According to the paper, Attorney Luke Edwards is also a target of the investigation. According to sources that wish not to be identfied, Edward’s is the ex-husband of Lafayette Attorney, Allyson M. Prejean who is now married to the head of Internal Affairs at the Lafayette City Police Department,  Lt. Dwayne Prejean, AKA, “Epitome of Integrity”. To our knoweledge, neither of the Prejeans are suspects in this ongoing federal probe.

One might ask,  how did this alleged criminal enterprise operate for SO MANY YEARS without District Attorney Mike Harson or any District Judges having knowledge of it?
