The Louisiana State Police is investigating an officer involved shooting in Breaux Bridge that claimed the life of a 16-year-old girl last night.
According to reports, officers with the Breaux Bridge Police Department were responding to a disturbance Sunday night when the incident happened. Sources tell us, that disturbance was a group of people fighting in the street.
According to investigators, at some point the 16-year-old Daraneisha Harris struck a police vehicle then backed upped into a driveway and struck another person. Sources tell us Harris along with other people who either participated or was watching the street fight scattered. They say she may have been trying to get away however don’t feel her intent was to cause harm to a cop or anyone else.
The condition of that person struck my Harris is not known at this time.
More details are expected to be released later today.
