Mother, boyfriend target of investigation in 3-month-old girl’s death
As we reported earlier today, the Abbeville Police Department is investigating the death of a three-month.
We’ve learned that the child’s mother and her boyfriend are the targets of an ongoing investigation.
According to reports,
The Abbeville police received a phone call from Abbeville General Hospital on Nov. 25 about a baby being brought into the emergency room with trauma wounds.
The baby was eventually transferred to a Lafayette hospital and then to a Baton Rouge hospital.
Police have not released any more information on the death of the baby despite an autopsy being performed.
According to the child’s father, 3-month-old Jayla Broussard suffered from blunt force trauma to the head, severe bruising around the neck, a broken wrist as well as a fractured rib. It’s unclear if the cause of death has been classified as suspicious, homicide, etc.
