On December 05, 2012 at 2:35am Houma Police responded to the twin span bridges reference a subject calling the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office and said he wanted to jump off of the bridge.
Officers arrived on scene and upon locating the subject he ran onto the twin span overpass where he climbed over the stairway ledge and was hanging off threatening to jump the long fall onto the cement foundation. Officers grabbed the subject and pulled him to safety.
The subject was transported to Leonard Chabert Medical Center (LCMC) for medical attention. During the incident, two officers received minor injuries. One with a sprained right thumb who received medical attention and the other reported a strain lower back who did not require medical treatment at this time. Both are expected to return to duty without any loss time.
The subject was not arrested as he was treated at the hospital for medical reasons.
