St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office Spokesperson Captain Megan Vizena said, “A warrant for Shelton Guillory, III, 27 of 440 North Cane, Eunice was executed on December 27, 2012 for aggravated second degree battery regarding a stabbing that occurred in Opelousas on Christmas Day.”
Vizena said, “During the early morning hours of December 25, 2012, deputies responded to a fight near Slim’s Y-Ki-Ki Club located on Hwy. 182, Opelousas. The first responding deputies observed several individuals fighting along with one victim who was bleeding. After the fight was broken up, the victim was transported to Opelousas General Hospital for multiple incisions to his forearm, bicep, ear, and shoulder.”
The victim was Port Barre native and former Cincinnati Bengals, Dallas Cowboys and Detroit Lions player Marvin White who played this year with the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League.
Vizena said, “After interviewing the victim and multiple witnesses, it was learned that the victim had a verbal argument with Guillory before the nightclub closed. As the victim proceeded to his vehicle at the end of the night, he was approached by Guillory and several others. At this time, Guillory pulled out a knife and cut him several times.”
Guillory was arrested without incident and booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail. He will appear in court on December 28, 2012.
