Who Got Busted?

When firefighters arrived heavy smoke was coming from the mobile home.

Firefighters extinguished the fire within thirty minutes. The mobile home sustained heavy fire and smoke damage.

The owner, Heather Hammons, was not home when firefighters arrived. There were no injuries reported.

Lafayette fire investigators determined that several fires were set in the mobile home. It was learned that a possible domestic disturbance occurred between the owner and her boyfriend.

Information collected during the investigation led to the arrest of the boyfriend, Sidney Syon, 28, of Broussard. He was charged with simple arson for setting the fires. Lafayette Police also investigated an incident involving the suspect. He was arrested and charged with additional offenses relating to that incident.

Syon was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on charges of simple arson, simple criminal damage to property and improper telephone communications. No bond was immediately set.
