The Vermilion / Municipal Narcotics Task Force conducted an undercover sting operation which netted them over an ounce of pure crystal methamphetamine, 96 controlled dangerous substance pills and nearly $5,000 in suspected drug proceed monies.
For the past week agents have been gathering intelligence of a known supplier of crystal meth to the Vermilion Parish area.
Wednesday the planning took shape as agents were able to negotiate the deal of one once of pure methamphetamine.
Upon agreeing to a meeting place agents watched as the suspect pulled into the location. Upon doing this they noticed that this sting operation would have to go down a little different than most. Inside of the car, with the suspect were his two children. Agents approached the vehicle and took the suspect, Royal Flakes (Date of birth 11-6-80) of Youngsville, into custody.
Upon a search of the vehicle agents located over an ounce of crystal meth, several prescription pills, which Flakes did not have a valid prescription for at the time, and nearly $5,000 in suspected drug proceeds.
Flakes was arrested and charged with Conspiracy to distribute a schedule II drug (Methamphetamine), Possession with the intent to distribute Methamphetamine, Possession of a controlled dangerous substance n the presence of a juvenile (2 counts) Possessions with the intent to distribute Roxicodone, and transactions involving drug proceeds.
Total bond was set at $100,000. The children were remanded in to the care of a family member later that evening.
