According to The Advertiser, 0ne year later the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the unsolved homicide of Darnell James Andrew on Felix Road.

The body of Darnell James Andrew, 34 years old was found in the trunk of a car in the 100 block of Felix Road in Eastern Lafayette Parish. Investigators are seeking the help of the public to solve the case. They have released details listed in previous releases in an attempt to potentially jog the memory of someone who may have information.

At 5:11 am on Saturday October 8, 2011 Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Deputies were alerted to a vehicle fire in a rural part of the Lafayette Parish by the Fire Department. In the trunk of the vehicle fire fighters and deputies discovered a deceased person, and a homicide investigation is now under way. There is no further information at this time but updates are expected as detectives continue their investigation.

UPDATE: Saturday 10-8-11 9:30 AM

On October 8, 2011 at approximately 5:11am the Lafayette Sheriff’s Office responded to the 100 Block of Felix Road in reference to a vehicle which was on fire. Upon arrival deputies along with the Fire Dept. discovered a 1999 Chevrolet 4 Door vehicle heavily damaged by fire. Upon opening the trunk deputies discovered a body which was also heavily damaged by fire.
The incident is being investigated as a homicide and the victim has not yet been positively identified.

Investigators from the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office, Coroners Office and Arson Section of the Lafayette Fire Department are continuing the investigation into the body of a man who was found dead in the trunk of a car in the 100 block of Felix Road in Lafayette Parish Saturday morning. The identity of the man remains unknown and will likely require DNA testing, an autopsy is pending and investigators are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 232-8477 (TIPS) or the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office at 232-9211.

UPDATE on Homicide Investigation

The Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office working with the LSU FACES (Forensic Anthropology and Computer Enhancement Services) have positively identified the body of the person found in the trunk of a car last Saturday on Felix Road in Lafayette Parish. The victim is 34 year old Danell James Andrew of Breaux Bridge. Sheriff’s Investigators are still working with the Lafayette Fire Department Arson Investigation Team to determine who may be responsible for Andrew’s death.
