Baker Police Detectives arrested a Baton Rouge teenager Monday in connection with an armed robbery, said Baker Police Chief Mike “Snapper” Knaps.
Chavis Demond Duncan Jr., 19, of 4554 Beech St., Baton Rouge, was arrested and charged with an armed robbery that occurred last Friday, Knaps said.
About noon on Oct. 12, two McDonald’s employees were traveling in their vehicle on Seville Avenue, just off Groom Road in Baker, when Duncan followed them and blocked them with his vehicle, explained Knaps.
Duncan, armed with a handgun, robbed one of the employees of several hundred dollars, the police chief said.
“Ironically, his handgun broke and fell apart during the robbery as he fled the scene,” said Knaps.
The two restaurant chain employees provided Baker detectives with a detailed description of the suspect and his vehicle, Knaps said, which ultimately led to his questioning on Monday.
Knaps said during the interview he confessed to the robbery.
Duncan was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison and charged with one count of armed robbery.
