Baton Rouge police arrested two men accused of beating an off-duty police officer Aug. 19 during an argument at an apartment complex on East Boyd Drive, according to arrest warrants.

The officer approached six to 10 men causing a disturbance at the Highland Village Condominiums at 141 E. Boyd Drive, the warrants say.

The officer was off duty and not in uniform, but he told the men he was an officer, Stubbs said.

The men then attacked the officer and knocked him to the ground, where they began to kick him, the warrants say. He suffered a broken right leg, a swollen jaw and a busted lower lip, the warrants say.

Anthony Tamburello and Joshua Tamburello, both of 137 Mattie St., LaPlace, were booked Monday into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison, booking records show.

Anthony Tamburello was booked on one count each of attempted first-degree murder of a police officer and interfering with a law enforcement investigation. Joshua Tamburello was booked on one count each of attempted first-degree murder of a police officer and rioting.
