Opelousas man arrested for posessing a stolen vehicle

According to Chief Perry Gallow, the Opelousas Police Department arrested Shannon Sampa of 712 N. Lombard St. Opelousas Louisiana after he was found in possession of a stolen 2006 white Ford F150. According to Sampa he purchased the vehicle from someone off the street for $200. Sampa then stated they altered the Vehicle Identification Number in order to conceal where it came from. Sampa then obtained a registration and title showing the altered VIN which came back to a 2004 F150. Sampa was taken into custody and charged with Illegal Possession of a Stolen Vehicle and Altering the vehicles identification numbers. Both of these charges are felonies which could land Sampa in prison at hard labor for up to ten years and a fine of up to $2000. The vehicle was traced back to the Eunice Louisiana area where it was stolen from. This investigation is still ongoing and could lead to more arrest.
