Busted In Acadiana

Opelousas- On October 1, 2011, the Opelousas Police Department received a call of a stabbing that occurred in and around the 500 block of Perry lane. Upon officers arrival they found the victim 20 year old Chadric Kennerson of 260 Gulino St Opelousas, La. with a stab wound to his upper torso area. Kennerson was transported to Opelousas General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The suspect in the stabbing was identified as 19 year old Markell Roberts of 212 S. Cane St. Opelousas Louisiana. Roberts later turned himself in to the Opelousas Police Department. He is currently being held on charges of Manslaughter. According to the investigation Roberts was approached by Kennerson and a fight started. During the fight Roberts pulled a knife and stabbed Kennerson once in the upper torso. Officers were able to recover the weapon from Kennerson when he arrived at the Police Department. Roberts will appear before a Judge on Monday morning on the above charges. This murder is the first of the year for the city of Opelousas.
