Child Predator Arrested in Rayne

On February 24, 2011, the Lafayette Police Department’s Cyber Crimes Unit conducted an undercover operation targeting those individuals who intend to persuade, induce, entice, or coerce a minor to engage or participate in sexual conduct or with the intent to engage or participate in sexual conduct with an adult while in a “chat” room. Investigators made contact with a suspect and engaged in a sexually explicit conversation with a person whom he believed to be under the age of 17. On March 13, 2011, the suspect was captured by web cam performing sexual acts and exposing himself to a person he believed to be under the age of 17. As a result of the ongoing investigation detectives with the Lafayette Police Department obtained an arrest warrant on March 21, 2011, for Indecent Behavior with a Juvenile for the arrest of Allen Joseph Desormeaux (30) of Rayne. On March 22, 2011, Desormeaux was arrested by the Rayne Police Department as the subject left the City of Rayne Library where he was using the Internet access.
